Audio-Technica Designs SonicPro ATH-MSR7 Hi-Res Headphones

eeeeeeeeeee

Picking up a pair of headphones can be a daunting task. After all, this is something that you’re going to strap to your skull — preferably for many hours at a time. You want them to sound good, but you also want them to be comfortable. Now, Audio-Technica has announced a new headphone model that should be able to fill both of those needs.

However, the new SonicPro ATH-MSR7 Over-Ear Hi-Res Audio Headphones don’t just sound good. They sound really good. That’s because this model has support for high-resolution audio and other top-quality source material.

Now, the company doesn’t always expect you to be tethered your home theater system. The ATH-MSR7 also pairs perfectly with your favorite portable devices.

Inside, the ATH-MSR7 has Audio-Technica’s own True Motion Drivers to deliver a wide range of sound, as well as a ton of detail. These have a 44mm driver with a lightweight, highly responsive voice coil and diaphragm. Other features include Multi-Layer Air Damping Technology to reduce unwanted internal vibrations, three precisely placed air vents for better airflow, a mesh acoustic resistor for an improved high-frequency response, and a low-frequency acoustic resistor for extended bass.

Of course, no headphones would be worth your time (or money) without some cushy ear pads. The ATH-MSR7 features soft memory foam that can fit securely around your ear, without pinching. It also has a flexible swivel design and padded headband.

“With the move towards high-resolution audio as the source material of choice for consumers, it’s especially important to listen using headphones that can reproduce all the musical nuances and fidelity that Hi-Res Audio, DSD and other uncompressed and lossless digital formats can deliver,” said Greg Pinto, Audio-Technica’s VP of marketing and consumer sales. “Audio-Technica has always been known for our standard-setting studio monitor headphones, like the ATH-M50x, and the ATH-MSR7 brings studio reference-quality sound to listeners who want to hear their favorite music — and all high-resolution audio — at its very best.”

Audio-Technica will start selling the ATH-MSR7 in March 2015. The headphones will be available in black and gun metal, with an MSRP of $249.95 each.
